The Great Jones Street Firehouse
is located in Manhattan near The Bowery. It was restored and rehabilitated for the New York City Department of General Services in conjunction with two other Landmark firehouses, one in the Greenwich Village Historic District and one in the Brooklyn Heights Historic District. All work was completed under the jurisdiction of the Landmarks Preservation Commission.

The facade restoration included masonry repair, copper roofing work and new wood windows to match the existing ones. The interior rehabilitation included new toilet facilities, sprinkler system, mechanical ventilation and reconstruction of the apparatus area on the first floor. The work on the apparatus area included the structural investigation of the existing brick arch floor construction complete with core borings, the design of a phased construction system and on-site inspections. The project was completed in 1987 at a cost of $950,000.00.
